You may have heard of Method Acting. How would one employ this technique in their everyday writing routine.

Bringing Character's to Life:

Crafting Love:

Write a Love letter from your Protagonist to their Love interest. One could try this at different stages of the relationship. In each stage, one will gain further insight into the character's mindset.

Then send the letter through the mail, even if its to yourself. Its a sort of ritual for me.

White Knight Technique:

Chess is a fascinating game of logic. However for this exercise, one doesn't have to restrict themselves to chess alone. For instance, I utilize video gameplay. I equipt the character in the manner consistent with the character's mindset and values. Then I attempt to play in a manner consistent with the character's play style. Eventually I feel a bond with the character, as they now live and breath in my mind. I get to know the character better, eventaully I think more like the character. Its as if I have selected to move the white knight chess piece. I know the number of moves it can make, the pattern, and the different iterations. I then ask myself in daily situations, how would the white knight chess piece approach this situation.

Wardrobe:

Try selecting a wardrobe for you character. One doesn't actually have to make a purchase, however one can get a better idea of a character based upon the choices they make in everyday tasks. Clothing is one of those tasks.

Method Writing:

For Instance, Ian Fleming's Character the Spy that goes by the name: "Bond, James Bond." is known to take cold showers.

So in my research I might decide to take a cold shower. I have read, if memory serves, that Hugh Jackman employed a similar method in order to get into the character of Wolverine.
